Transition towns is a wonderful initiative inspired by Rob Hopkins. This transition network has now spread through various parts of the world and basically launches its platform for justifying a decent (as a society) away from peak oil. It is a collaborative project which utilises the power of community and implements alternative cultural norms that do not rely on oil.
